Drogowieść app terms of use
Version of 23 October 2026. Applies to the Drogowieść Android app and the browser version. This is a translation of the Polish original; if the two differ, the Polish version prevails.
In short: Drogowieść tells you about the places you pass, but it does not invite you to enter them. Being nearby is enough for a discovery. On the road, driving comes first, and you decide where to go in and whether it is safe, in line with the law and the signs on site.
What Drogowieść is
Drogowieść is an app that, during your journey, tells you out loud about interesting places nearby. Based on location, speed and direction of travel it chooses what to talk about, and it saves visited places in your trips and discoveries. Drogowieść is not a navigation app: the built-in map only shows the history of your discoveries and is not meant for route finding.
Safety on the road
- Set the app up before you set off. Do not operate it while driving.
- The app does not replace road signs or traffic rules. Always follow the traffic rules and the situation on the road.
- Stop only where it is allowed and safe.
Visiting places
Drogowieść tells you about places but does not encourage you to explore them on your own. Many of them are private property, closed sites or places that are dangerous by nature, such as caves, ruins, quarries, mine adits, escarpments, marshes or bodies of water. A mention in the app does not mean that a place is accessible or safe.
You do not need to enter anywhere for a discovery. A place counts by itself when you spend about two minutes within a hundred metres of it, e.g. on a road, in a car park or on a trail. A town or village counts when you drive through it.
Respect prohibitions and signs. Enter private property only with the owner’s permission. Visit caves and similar places only where it is allowed: with a guide or with proper preparation and equipment. The decision to enter a place and responsibility for your own safety are yours.
Stories and their sources
- The stories were prepared with the help of artificial intelligence, based on Polish Wikipedia articles, and checked against the source articles. Even so, they may contain errors or outdated information, e.g. about opening hours or access to places.
- Stories are read by your phone’s speech synthesizer, so proper names and abbreviations may sound unnatural. The stories are currently in Polish.
- The articles and the stories based on them are available under the CC BY-SA 4.0 licence. The “source” link next to each story leads to the article.
- When there is no ready-made story nearby (for now, outside the Świętokrzyskie region), the app reads the beginning of a Wikipedia article live. This needs an internet connection.
- Announcements depend on GPS, so they sometimes come a little too early or too late.
Test version
Drogowieść is in testing and is provided free of charge, as is. It may contain errors, and its features and stories may change. You install the Android app from a file downloaded from this website; you also download updates here.
Browser version
The browser version (e.g. for iPhone) is a trial version. It works differently from the Android app, so not all features may work, or work correctly. It works only with the screen on and the page open.
Privacy
The app sends no data to the author. Details: privacy policy.
Bugs and contact
Report errors in stories and in how the app works to kontakt@drogowiesc.pl. App author: Daniel Jasion.
Changes
We will announce changes to these terms on this page, with a new date at the top.
